Gun rights...is this America or Cuba?

 

Cuomo's at it again....pushing business out of the State of New York, Tyrant Cuomo wants to hold Gun Manufactures responsible for gun violence...not the criminals, that kill.

 

So, a big story in the news here the last few days has been about this underage kid who accidentally shot and killed his best friend. They got hold of this semi-automatic pistol, see, and the kid dropped the magazine out and, aware there was still a round in the chamber, pulled the slide back to clear it. The slide slipped out of his grip and went forward, rechambering the round, and the hammer dropped. BANG! Unfortunately, it was pointing at his friend at the time.

Lots of boohooing about the tragic loss of life, and what good kids they both were, and how bad guns are. Not one damn word about who was responsible for leaving the loaded gun out, where an underage minor child had access to it, whi.ch is illegal in this state. Will the owner be punished? Probably not, because in most cases prosecutors figure their grief over the incident is enough punishment. So with no legal deterrent, more owners leave guns out where minors can get hold of them, and more minors die. We have the laws, let's enforce them.

 

Sounds like a legitimate accident to me...case closed.

We have to ask if we could live with ourselves if it was us left our gun laying around and our kid got hold of it.

The thing is, we need to draw that picture for adults before the kid finds the gun.

 

If your pistol is involved in such a tragic accident is there an appropriate amount of time that should elapse or protocol that should be observed, before returning to pistol enjoyment?

 

And what is "pistol enjoyment"???

And do you have to own the "pistol" or can you get "enjoyment" from another person's "pistol"??? Does it really have to be a "pistol" or can you substitute a revolver instead?


Have you ever experienced "pistol enjoyment" yourself ???

 

Which is pretty much how anyone else would feel.

Handled a suicide once, 15 year old kid got dads shotgun and blew his brains all over the ceiling. Dad had it locked up and the shells separate and locked up but the kid had one key and pried the back off of the cabinet with the shells.

Two weeks later shooter handled dads suicide.

 

What charges will the gun owner be made to answer for? Surly something heavier than improper storage.

 

In the case Shooter handled it was a self imposed death penalty. Happens in a lot of these cases, is shooters understanding. Hard for society to impose a more harsh penalty than what the adults impose on themselves.

 

Firearms can be very dangerous and deadly if not handled properly... But so can automobiles, alcohol and drugs....

For some reason here in the US we teach our kids about the dangers of driving impaired or recklessly. We teach them about the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

We educated (or try to) them in proper driving and advise them to avoid drugs and alcohol for their own good.

However, for some reason, it's taboo to teach them about firearms safety and what to do if in a situation where someone is playing with a gun.

I think if this issue was addresses in a proper way by the education system, the number of accidental shootings would be much lower.

We should be teaching firearms safety in our schools starting in kindergarten....

 

The year I started high school the glee club needed prop storage and took over the indoor shooting range in the basement under the Girls gymnasium. There was pressure to shut down the shooting club. Peacenik parents, Vietnam war.

 

In the US right now, a person would be ostracized if they even mentioned a student shooting club...

 

I drove past my old school a while ago and I see the enjoying range has been turned into a netball or tennis court.

The reason 14,000 kids got shot in the last ten years is hand guns kept for personal protection.
There just too many in existence to do anything about it. That’s just the price paid.

 

I used to keep track of some of those and hardly a day would go by when there wasn't some kid killed in some stupid shit gun carelessness. And sometimes the opposite. A kid would get hold of a gun and accidentally shoot their parent or other adult.

And semi automatic hand guns are mostly to blame for that. Especially the insane idea of having a round in the chamber. And on many guns, especially Glock handguns, that only have a safety on the trigger. Which is how so many toddlers end up shooting themselves in the head. There hands are so small they can't pull the trigger unless they turn it around and hold it with both hands pulling the trigger with their thumbs while they are staring down the barrel.

I have been pointing out on this forum for years we in the US have reached a point where we have more "gun rights" then we have gun sense and responsibility to go with them.

And we can especially think the NRA for getting us to this point.

 

It still the Adult who owns the gun that fault you should never leave a load weapon of any time where a young child could find it think it's a toy and play with it.
